When naelany asked if I'd be interested in writing a rec for TU, I was immediately enthusiastic, and
volunteered myself without really thinking about it. It was only a few days later when I realised
that I'd not read much Twific at all recently, and had to embark on a hunt for good stories. I think
the one I chose deserves to be pointed out to a wider audience, and I hope you enjoy it! The reason
I've not been reading much Twific lately is because I've become what a friend recently described
as “a total slashwhore!”. As an nod to this aspect of my character, I've snuck in a couple of non-
Twi slashfics, in the hope of corrupting some more people... These three stories are all well-written
and highly enjoyable, and are on something of a sliding scale from angst to fluff. Thank you so

I have a confession to make. I hadn’t read twific in a really long time.  Outside of a few twikinkfest stories, I honestly can’t even remember the last one I read. Blasphemous I know!  However, I’ve been temporarily hijacked by other fandoms. And as you may know, once you fall down the rabbit hole, it takes some time to crawl out.

There are so many incredibly talented authors out there writing in so many different fandoms - the choices are endless! So, if you haven’t yet branched out, I’m here to encourage you to give it a try. I promise not to tell Edward.

Fantastic writing and then…something original.

When Nae first asked me to write a rec, I honestly panicked a little.  She told me, “Don't worry about what has or has not been rec'ed. The point is to see what floats your boat as a slash author.”  Well, heck.  I’m reading all the stuff you guys are reading right now *cough-hard labor-cough*, so what could I bring to the blog that’s new and worth your time?  Lucky for me, there’s been a rash of new m/m slash stories in the past month or so that haven’t yet found a large audience.  So I’m gonna introduce a few of them to you all in the hope that you find them as slashtastic as I do.

When naelany asked me to do a guest rec for TU, I think I grinned like an idiot for a full two hours afterwards. I’d never have dreamt of being recc’d on this wonderful blog, let alone being trusted to keep my inner Twislut on a leash—albeit a very long, stretchy leash—long enough to write a reasonably calm and coherent rec. And then there was the matter of deciding what to rec. But after much fussing, fretting, and a very long debate between me, myself, and I, I’ve at last come to a decision.

I was completely stoked to see that up there. And word on the street is that they were hoping I would continue with the story … and just for them, I think I will. When naelany asked me to do a rec for this site I was at a bit of a loss as what to choose. Luckily, sadtomato was ranting and raving about this little gem on twitter and sucked me in! Fr33bird has really taken the sexy slash and made it cute and sweet as well. This high school Edward and Jasper are so adorable in their self discovery and the discovery of each other. It’s beautiful and funny and so effing hot!

Guest Rec - Avioleta

When I was first asked to write a guest rec for this week’s edition of TwiSlash Unveiled, I was excited.  How could I not be?

But my excitement quickly bled into concern.  Concern because I literally had absolutely no idea what I would rec.

For the last few months, I’ve been entirely absorbed with Slash/Backslash.  The contest produced 48 fantastic stories this year.  And, if you haven’t finished your SBS 3.0 reading, I encourage you to go now, run! What are you waiting for?

But I knew that, as a co-host and judge, I would have the opportunity to review my favorite entries on TU, leaving me with the same question of what to rec this week.

Anyone that knows me knows that I’m a fandom slut and I’ve been reading fan fiction for a long time. Slash is a large portion of the fan fiction that I read and I read it in a lot of fandoms. So, since I’m a big ol’ slut, I decided to give you sampler of some of my fave fics from several fandoms. Now, you Twilight fans do not dispair. I have two Twi fan fics in here, an AU and AH, because I can’t even control my slutty ways in one fandom. As for the others, I have a diverse group of naughty delights for you from several fandoms including DC Comics, Harry Potter, Star Trek, X-men movies and even a little TV show called The OC. The last update I read came when I was at work so I read it on my phone and let me tell you…I almost dropped my phone and fell off my chair. I know I gasped out loud…Really, if you aren’t reading that story… go now…it’s well worth it…Edward and Jasper work at Cullen Advertising. Jasper is out as a gay man and Edward is buried under a pile of clothes in the closet.  Hot Hot Hot!

First off, let me say a HUGE thanks to Naelany for asking me to do this. I went from squeeeing like a fan-girl to panic stations in three point eight seconds. I didn’t know what the hell I was going to rec. Nearly everything I read, or have read, has already been recommended on this here wonderful blog, because let’s face it...there are some fucking awesome stories out there.

So, I spent hours scouring my faves list, my yet-to-read list, even the favourite lists of my favourite authors, ending back at my list of faves...and I narrowed it down. To two.

One is epically popular. The other is basically unheard of.

One is Twilight fanfiction, the other is not.

One of my favourite things to read in this fandom is femmeslash and unfortunately good femmeslash is often in short supply, which was why I was especially excited to be able to read In Public, I Call Her Sister by naelany. This period story is the tale of what would have happened if Rosalie and Vera weren’t just good friends, but in love as well, and the consequences of that relationship given that homosexuality wasn’t accepted in the 1930s. This one twist in character then changes our perceptions of everything in Rosalie’s history.

What can I rec for you that you haven't already read? Funniest stories? Best vampslash? E/C fic? Well, certainly I love all of those things, but I'm sure these lists have already been compiled at one time or another, so I decided to try a different approach.

Recently I read my first HP fanfic (Reparations, of course). No, I'm not going to rec H/D stories, but there was a moment in Reparations that I thought was just so completely perfect, that I told everyone I knew about it, whether they wanted to know or not. (For the record, it was ch 7 when Harry and Draco trade croutons for bread while Ron looks on, in what has to be the most exquisite exchange of carbohydrates ever.)
