Tuesday's Best - 8-21-2012

Good morning, my lovelies! Hope today finds you well. As I've mentioned before, today is my last (official) post on TU. It's been a great ride, and I've enjoyed hanging out with y'all over the past couple of years. It's time for me to move on, however, and focus on other things (not least of which is finishing my stories). I just wanted to take a moment and thank everyone, both readers and contributors alike, for making this blog such a great place to be. It's truly been my pleasure to share stories with you, and I look forward to doing so one last time.

As of next week, Whitlock's Girl will be putting up the blog posts again, and begin rec'ing once more after a lengthy break from the fandom. I'm sure you'll all welcome her back and treat her with the same respect and love that you have me. MizzDee and Connie will still be around being their own awesome selves, too.

Now, why don't we see what MizzDee and I have in store for you today, shall we?

Hello my loves. I’m coming at you today with an older story from one of my favs.  Learning To Surf And Other Valuable Lessons by FarDareisMai2 is an awesome story featuring my favorite couple of all time; the ever beautiful Edward and Jasper. Let’s see what they’re up to today, shall we.

It started with a dare.

I'm paddling and wondering why the fuck I'm here. Then I remember that Newton dared me to learn how to surf, and since when did I ever turn down a dare?

But ended with Jasper, lying on the beach with a cut on his head after trying to stand up on the surfboard. His tiny, elf-like surf instructor tried to take care of him, but when she couldn’t stop the bleeding, she dragged him off the beach to her uncle’s house.

When she pulled Jasper into the house, she called for her uncle Edward and out walks one of the sexiest men he’s ever seen. And he just so happens to be a man that Jasper had been checking out earlier on the beach.

Jasper is definitely attracted to him but after the girl shared a few details of her uncle’s personal life, he has to know for sure if the vibes he’s getting from Edward are what he hopes they are.

I lick my lips, and I see his eyes following my tongue. Oh really? Still, I need to be sure.

His hand clasps mine and it's warm, the skin soft against mine. I hold on a moment or two longer than necessary, hoping I convey my interest. It doesn't go unnoticed.

It’s obvious that they’re both interested and the two fall into an easy conversation which turns into dinner. Playful banter goes back and forth until Edward teases and Jasper can’t take anymore.

"Think I'm sexy, Edward?" I ask. My voice is lower now, husky.

His eyes flicker back and forth from mine to my mouth, then he leans forward and says, "I think," and his breath is soft and warm against my face, "that you have something on your chin." He rubs a thumb along my jaw, while his lips form a smile.

My heart starts to race a little. And he starts to pull away.

Oh hell no! I grab him by his hips, and pull him to me as I lean back and lie down on the chaise lounge I'm sitting on. I feel the weight of him on me, and my dick which has been in a torturous limbo of semi-hardness all day jumps to attention.

"Goin' somewhere, Doc?" This time I let the full Texas twang out, and I feel him shudder against me. I run my nose along his throat, taking in his scent, until I reach his jaw and nip lightly. His answering moan says it all, and I grab him by the back of the neck and pull him down, covering his lips with mine. Once . . . twice . . . I pass across them softly, until I feel them part slightly, and my tongue darts in to taste him.

Everything between them falls into place and things are just so easy between them. But after spending an amazing night together, Edward asks for more than Jasper is ready for. Suddenly easy just isn’t enough. Jasper walks away, unknowingly leaving his heart behind him. Will Jasper ever be ready? Will he realize what he left behind before it’s too late?

To find out the answers, you have to read this amazing story.  FarDareisMai2 tells a great story of self-discovery and overcoming fear which hopefully can lead you along the right path. Check it out, you won’t be sorry you did. And don’t forget to leave her some love. It is very well-deserved. Until next time…much love to you – D.

Sometimes you just need to read something sad. What Hurts the Most, by Layne Faire was just such a read for me. I’m sure you all know the song by that title. Well, this story is based on that, so you can guess that it really isn’t a very happy tale.

Jasper’s had a rough life that has left its mark on him We never find out exactly what’s happened to him, or whether those scars are literal or figurative only, but they’re there all the same and Jasper seems to let them define him. Edward, on the other hand, saw past the scars... at least at first.

A part of me always worried you wouldn't stay, no matter how much I loved you, how much I gave of myself. So, I locked it away, a secret that I take out and examine daily, wondering what if. What if I'd told you the truth? What if I'd have fought harder, loved more? Would any of it had made a difference? Would you have gone anyway? I'd fooled myself into believing that if I didn't lay it all out, I'd preserve a piece of my heart. Instead, I've been left with endless questions and futile musings.

Since this story isn’t very long, I won’t share anything more. You’ll have to read for yourself what happened to these two. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have an aching heart to nurse and a Jasper to hug ;-)

There you have it, folks. Two great stories to sink your teeth into. Be sure to leave these wonderful authors some love, and check back next week to see what Connie and MizzDee have in store for you.

In the mean time, why don't you hop on over to the Slash/Backslash 4.0? I'm told there's already an entry or two. Or do one better and write an entry. I just know there's a gem waiting to be told. Come on, join in on the fun. Or, if you don't feel up to writing, they also allow art in this round. Give it a go. Have fun. And spread the slash-love.

Also, TwiSlash is still looking for a few good people to help with spreading that slash-love. Know an awesome story, but it's outside the boundaries of the Twilight fandom? That's okay. We know that a lot of you have ventured into other fandoms, and TU wants to share it with you. Just leave a comment to this post with contact info, or ping me (naelany) on twitter, and I'll pass it along.

For now, this is it for me. Thank you all once again for a great ride. Naelany, out.
