Tuesday's Best 1-3-2012

Happy New Year, my lovelies! Hope you had a great start of 2012, and that it will be a good one for everyone. MizzDee and I have some wonderful stories in store for you, so pull up a chair and let's get right to it, shall we?

Hello my loves. Today I’m bringing you another story written by the amazing Owenic . His Grandfather's Watch is a great short story that shows you the true power of love. This story shows how a love from the past can bring your whole future together in ways you never expected. Join Edward and Jasper as they work together to unravel a seventy year old mystery that brings them closer together.

~oOo~

Edward Cullen has been working in his parents’ antique store since he was a kid. Since then, he’s become a specialist at old clocks and timepieces. His ability serves him well when Jasper Whitlock enters their store wanting to know more information about an old pocket watch.

The watch belonged to Jasper’s grandfather but that’s all he knows. He’s hoping he can find something more about the watch that has been in his family for a long time.  But when Edward takes the watch apart to examine its inner workings, he finds something that neither of them expected.

"When I took the casing off, I found this," I tell him, pointing to the small square of yellowed paper.

"A photograph?"

I nod. "And an inscription engraved into the back of the watch."

Jasper blinks, absorbing the information, before he picks up the photo. It's small, only an inch and a half square, black and white and aged, but there's no mistaking who or what the picture is of.

Two men, about 18 years old. They're dressed in outfits from possibly the 1940's. But that's not what's remarkable about it. It's how they're standing. They're facing the camera with an arm each around the other; not in a brotherly love embrace, but an embrace that shows a history – an intimate history.

They were lovers.

With that realization, Jasper wants to know everything about the old watch. Unfortunately, he has a problem. He’s recently lost his family and his only living relative is his grandmother, who suffers from dementia. Will she be able to tell Jasper what he needs to know?

Carlisle, Edward’s dad, sees the heartache this causes Jasper and suggests that Edward could go with him as moral support and to help him find the answers he needs. Jasper reluctantly agrees and the two set off on a journey to find the secrets of the past.

Owenic has done it again with this amazing little story. She’s managed to combine two love stories into one to give you the best of the past and the present. You’ll be holding your heart in your hands as you fall in love with these men. So give this story a chance and show her some love. You’ll be glad you did. Until next time… much love to you – D

note: Owenic posted on her profile she will be taking down her stories soon, so catch this while you still can! She'll make files available for those who ask (nicely, please! nae), in case you miss out on any of her wonderful work. I, for one, will miss your writing, sweets. naelany

You know those fics that really make you feel like a peeping Tom? They’re a guilty pleasure, aren’t they? Even more so than the average kinky fic? Well, I have one for you, written by PolkaDotMama, called Twin Windows.

Carlisle loves sipping his morning coffee in the kitchen. Mostly because of the view. And no, we’re not talking rolling green hills or beautiful flower garden here.

Nope.

We’re talking Riley.

Riley, who doesn’t know Carlisle watches him every morning as he wakes up and starts his day. Or does he?

I can’t really show anything, since this is a very short fic, but well worth it. Maybe, if we’re really lucky and y’all ask real nice-like, we can convince PolkaDotMama that there’s much more to these boys. What do you think?

There you have it, folks. Enjoy these wonderful stories and be sure to leave these authors some love. Check back next week to see what Connie and MizzDee have in store for you, then.

In the mean time, there are still four days left to enter the Twilight No Stress Love Fest; Holiday Edition! What are you waiting for? Hop on over, snag a few prompts and get to work, spread some love. You know you want to ;-)
